Aquì dicen como configurarlo, pero aquì pongo una traducciòn hecha por mì:

La documentación está disponible en SpeedTouch.SourceForge.Net pero esta escritura apenas hace esa porción para usted, así que usted no debe necesitar leer otra documentación sobre el USB, el PPP, o el ADSL.
Para utilizar este documento, usted necesita:
1. Utilizar la versiòn màs nueva(o la versión estable de esta) de speedtouchconf.tar.gz, este manual te ayudara para configurarlo todo. La ùltima versión es la primera enumerada en la página(speedtouch-1.3.1.tar.bz2)

Esto incluye el software de speedtouch.sourceforge.net.
2. Extraer los archivos con #xzvf speedtouchconf-dd-mm-yyyy.tar.gz
3. Cambiarse al directoriio donde se descomprimio el archivo con:
# Cd speedtouchconf-DD-MM-YYYY
4. Consiguen el Firmware de Alcatel (ahora Thomson):
* Visitar la página de la Transferencia directa del Firmware de Alcatel

(completar sus datos, uncheck el "Spam yo" checkbox, el tecleo "continúa" y selecciona el acoplamiento "binario" de la transferencia directa)
* O copiar el archivo de alcaudsl.sys de la instalación del de Windows
* Otro fichero de firmware es actualmente disponible de ( http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/files/firmware.bin )speedtouch.sourceforge.net que sea al parecer absolutamente confiable, y no le requiere incorporar ningunos detalles personales.
* Para el módem Silver ( http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/rev4fw.zip ), este soporte lógico inalterable debe ser utilizado. (la legalidad de esta transferencia directa es incierta; el acoplamiento se puede inhabilitar en cualquier momento). El módem Silver ahora se cree para trabajar confiablemente - la regeneración apreciada. Apenas poner el archivo del ZIP en el mismo directorio que la escritura de speedtouchconf.sh. No descomprimirlo
5. Exepto el microcódigo (speedmgmt.tar.gz, mgmt.o, alcaudsl.sys, o el archivo del zip) en el speedtouchconf-DD-MM-YYYY/directorio.
6. Ahora ejecutar la siguiente instruccion: # /speedtouchconf.sh
7. Esto deben funcionar algo como este ejemplo.

No hacer ninguna otra configuración del software - particularmente, no instalar el software de Alcatel - solamente se requiere el microcódigo.

Correr el scrip antes mencionado como ROOT.
Se tomara solo unos minutos para configurar sus datos. Usted necesita saber las cosas siguientes:

* Sus números de VPI/VCI (algunos ISPs se enumera con sus números)
* Su identificación de la conexión de la ISP y contraseña

Para el módem Silver, usted necesitará el microcódigo de rev4fw - apenas poner este archivo en el mismo directorio que la escritura principal de speedtouchconf.sh.

La primera hornada del nuecleo 2.6 que ahora trabajan(eg, Fedora Core 2, Mandrake 10, SuSE 9.1 etc), aunque la escritura puede quejarse por el BUS del USB, y escritura de lanzamiento/etc/init.d/speedtouch puede fallar.
Como solucion temporal, fijar LOAD_USBCORE=0 y LOAD_USBINTERFACE=0 en /etc/speedtouch.conf. Esto debe no más de largo ser necesario (el 23 de febrero de 2005). Comprobar el proyecto del speedtouch para saber si hay actualizaciones.

Juas, hace unos dias estuve con algo asi en el ubuntu y quede arruinado y sin poder usar internet.
Me parece que ya estoy demasiado Micro$ofeado para hacerme el loco. Si no esta la opcion del boton derecho "instalar modem, conectarse a internet y bajar porno" en un solo click, me agarran mareos.
