En el foro TechEnclave, un usuario escribió una artículo sobre las últimas capacidades de este ya famoso entorno 3D de software libre.

Si bien el artículo está en inglés, las capturas de pantallas son lo suficientemente elocuentes como para afirmar que Compiz Fusion es un excelente proyecto.

CitarSystem Requirements : Few people might be thinking what does it takes to run all those Glorious effects.. and after witnessing Vista heavy system requirements people might be thinking that it jus another pocket burner.. So let me tell you are wrong ! Compiz Fusion just works fine in 256 MB of Ram with decent processor. I have been running Compiz Fusion in Pentium 4 with 256 Mb Ram now 768  and all the effects works like a charm in Intel Onboard Graphics..

Though few effects like Water requires special drivers say better Open Gl support that can be gained from Onboard ATI and nVIDIA card.. Compiz can even work great on 256Mb if you choose the Riht Desktop Environment. Like XFCE + Compiz Fusion will be less resource hungry combo

Como sabrán, no soy muy buen entendedor del tema, pero... ¿se necesita una distro específica para instalar esto? ¿En Ubuntu o Mint por ejemplo se puede? ¿se instala luego de instalar la distro principal o tiene que venir incluido en el liveCD?

Se puede instalar en cualquier distro .. en Ubuntu y en Mint en particular estan a un par de clicks de distancia (ya instalados, solo hace falta activarlos)

Yo tuve por un tiempito ubuntu, y puse el compiz es muy bueno, el entorno grafico que le da a la pc! la verdad un muy buen proyecto... me ponia a jugar con el cubo, o el efectode fuego!
